Motion detectors help increase home security

Home Motion Detector

Product Overview

Motion detectors act as a second line of defense in your home security system. Motion detectors utilize various technologies such as infrared, ultrasonic, or microwave sensors. If an intruder enters your home and the alarm doesn’t engage, an armed motion detector can alarm you of the intruder’s presence. Motion detectors can also be used outdoors as part of your home security system. If you wish to protect your home’s perimeter, motion detectors can be utilized to detect and illuminate areas where motion is detected.

Advanced technologies have allowed some motion detectors to activate only if the motion is caused by someone over a certain size or weight. These types of motion detectors work great for many homeowners with pets who roam the house freely. These sensors allow you to arm your home security system when you leave the house without your pets accidentally setting off the alarm. The type of motion detector that will function best with your home security system depends on your installation and your home environment.

Why We Like It

• Provides added security beyond the standard door and window sensors
• Can be used both indoors and outdoors
• Certain models are “pet friendly” and won’t trigger your alarm if it’s just your pet
• Almost any security system can integrate with motion detecting sensors

.

Who Is It For?

• Homeowners looking for extra security and peace of mind

Hi EJ Bernier, you may need to have your motion sensor adjusted. Please reach out to the sale representative you worked with or customer service department in order to set up an appointment.

I recently moved into a house that has a system. The problem is that at a certain time everyday, the beeping goes off so I am assuming it is timed. I push motion off and it goes off but it is a little annoying getting up at 1230 in the morning every time. Any advice.

Hi Traci, probably the easiest way to know if your motion sensor is pet friendly is by contacting your home security provider. ADT Security customer service department can be reached at 1-866-746-7238

One time my husband and I were at Walmart and ADT called stating our motion detector had alerted them. Knowing our dog was outside, we told them to go ahead and contact the police. Once we arrived, it ended up being a false alarm. The only thg we could think of was the a/c vents in the ceiling was sucking the air causing the filters to move up and down when the a/c came and went off. Has anyone else had any problems???

how do i know if my motion sensor is pet freindly?

Are there "pet friendly" ones for pets up to 90 pounds like large dogs? Mine goes off when we leave our dog loose, and have to crate him. We've tried turning off the motion sensor part when we leave, but it doesn't always turn off consistently.

I can not get the cover off my motion detector. The battery is dead. I was told to squeeze the cover and it will pop off. Well it hasn't. So what else can be done to get the cover off so I can put a new battery in it? Also what kind of battery does it use?
