Tip of the Day: Small appliances should be unplugged when not in use and kept out of reach of children.

Tip of the Day: When running outside in the snow, wear a hat to help keep body heat from escaping. Avoid cotton hats that will soak up moisture and make you colder.

Sunday, February 27th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: Some waterbed foundations have gaps large enough for a child to crawl underneath. A traditional waterbed can weigh up to a ton or more and if collapsed, could cause fatal injuries.

Saturday, February 26th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: Always leave the light on when giving or taking medicines to prevent a mix up.

Friday, February 25th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: To remove snow from your car use an auto brush designed for snow removal. Certain ice scrapers and shovels could scratch the paint.

Thursday, February 24th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: If your house has a laundry chute, make sure it stays closed with a childproof lock.

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011:
Tip of the Day: After a snowfall make sure to clear off your car mirrors, head and taillights and license plate before driving.

Tip of the Day: If you are de-icing your windows never use hot water, it could cause the glass to crack and shatter.

Monday, February 21st, 2011:
Tip of the Day: If you’re running outdoors in snowy conditions make sure to slow down and walk if you cross an icy stretch on your route.

Sunday, February 20th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: If your dryer isn't properly drying your clothes, it could be that the exhaust pipes are getting clogged with lint, which is a fire hazard. Clean dryer vents regularly.

Saturday, February 19th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: Cold weather reduces tire pressure. Take special care to monitor your car’s tires, especially during winter months.

Friday, February 18th, 2011:
Tip of the Day: Never skate on ice that has not been tested. Cracks, pressure ridges, bubbles and water on the top of ice are all signs of unsafe ice.

Tip of the Day: Don’t forget that your dog or cat needs proper identification. Make sure they have an I.D. tag with updated contact information.

Tip of the Day: Animal poison control experts tend to see an increase in cases on Valentine’s Day due to chocolates and lilies. Be careful to keep your Valentine’s Day goodies away from pets.
