Three Tips for Data Privacy DayBy Home Security Source Jan 28, 2011 | 11:15:00 amPosted in: DIY Safety, Personal Safety
Today, January 28, 2011 is Data Privacy Day. This is a day where we should all make an effort to increase our awareness and learn new ways to protect our online presence. We live in a world where everything is digitized. While we are empowered by this digital world and the instant access to everything, the downside is that it’s hard to know who is doing what with our personal information. So, in honor of Data Privacy Day, here are three helpful tech tips to protect you.
Make sure you have a very strong password. Many people have a tendency to make their passwords their birthday or something they can easily remember. Mix it up with a combination of symbols, letters and numbers. This will make it all the more difficult for potential hackers to access your accounts.
Check out the credibility of each site you visit. It’s entertaining to surf the web but do it safely and always have updated antivirus software installed to help prevent downloading dangers.
Delete your browsing history before you turn off your computer. There is malicious software out there that can infect and put all of your most sensitive information at risk.
