Protect Your Valuables from Home Burglary
By Frank Santamorena April 02, 2012 | 02:00 pmPosted in: Burglary & Loss Prevention, Home Security Tips Let’s take a moment and think about ways to protect your valuables from a thief. Having an alarm system is an essential element to making security a family matter in the protection of your family and property. Having a high grade heavy duty safe is complimentary in that it will also protect your valuables and buy you plenty of time should a burglary take place.
So what is the No. 1 item a burglar is looking for? This varies with who published what. Cash, jewelry, guns, electronic equipment; you can bet that if these items are lying around, they are as good as gone in a few minutes should you experience a break in. It boils right down to time, what’s available, and how easy it to get out the door.
Experience has taught us many things about a burglar’s habits. Thieves generally work between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. - when you’re likely at work. They want to get their jobs done as quickly as possible to reduce their chances of getting caught. Many break-ins are jobs done in less than 10 minutes. Burglary is a crime of opportunity. There usually is no pre-meditation involved. It’s as simple as who’s home and who’s not.
Thieves know they don’t have much time—so they’re in and they’re out-taking anything of value to them. Desperate burglars can be bold enough to go about their business even if an alarm system is blaring away. And forget about your neighbors getting involved. They actually have the right mind of presence to stay put rather than put themselves in harm’s way.
Protect your valuables from theft with a heavy duty safe.
So please remember, make certain you have alarmed an alarm system should you have one just in case a thief were to enter your home,. And remind yourselves to lock that safe. The real deterrent to safeguard your valuables (cash, jewelry, guns, etc.) appears to be the addition of a high grade heavy duty security safe. When a thief sees a heavy-duty safe they generally leave it alone.
