How to Test Your Home Alarm SystemBy Home Security Source Jun 21 , 2011 | 8:30:00 amPosted in: Home
Installing a monitored home alarm system is the first step in making sure your home is safe and secure. Testing your ADT system is the best way to be sure that it is functioning properly. Here are a couple quick tips to keep in mind as you use your ADT security system.
• Test your alarm system weekly to insure that the connection to ADT’s monitoring centers and all functions of the system are working properly.
•ADT will run tests on your system at different times depending on your service plan, but it’s ultimately the alarm owner’s responsibility to test their system.
• Testing your system does not take long and can easily be done by following the instructions provided in your owner’s manual. All owner’s manuals are available for reference here on the ADT website.
• It is also important to test your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors on a monthly basis and change the batteries in both at least twice a year.
Your home security alarm, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors can save your life, so take precautionary steps to make sure these items will work when you need them most.
