Home Security Systems are Essential for Large Households
By Home Security Source Aug 8 , 2011 | 5:45:00 pmPosted in: House, Home Alarm Systems Unless you hate cleaning, a large home can be a wonderful thing to have, with more space to enjoy recreational time, more rooms to entertain guests and more privacy when you want some quiet time. Unlike a small home, however, it is difficult to remain aware of what’s going on inside a big house at any given point of the day. For this reason, security experts highly recommend home alarm systems for large households, as it affords a level of protection that people without home security systems don’t have.
To begin with, it’s important to realize the changes in the architecture of homes that has occurred over the past 100 years. From Victorian style houses with many narrow rooms to the small Cape Cods that became common in the 50’s to modern open floor-plans with rooms that flow from one to the next, houses have changed with the way people live and enjoy their lives. Nowadays, the average size of a new home is approximately DOUBLE what it was in the 1950’s, at 2349 feet.
A larger house means more entry points, which poses a problem if you don’t have a home alarm system to alert you when someone enters or leaves. If you’re in one part of the house, how difficult would it be for a stranger to enter undetected in another part? Or, if you have children, how do you know when they enter or leave? (This is especially important if you have a backyard swimming pool and toddlers.)
Even if your house isn’t large in area, but your household contains a greater than average number of people, a home security system is a helpful way of keeping track of the comings and goings of members of the family. Often, busy households have lots of guests and – sometimes – strangers. A home alarm system can be a great deterrent to any visitors who might be encouraged to return later when no one is home.
With home security systems more affordable and sophisticated than ever, it makes that much more sense for owners of medium to large houses to include a home alarm system among the must-haves of their homes.
