Having a home security system can protect your home from burglars. Even more importantly, it can protect you and your family when you are home.
A 12-year old girl in Missouri City, Texas proved that point this week. She apparently was home sick from school while her mother was at work when a would-be burglar wearing gloves broke the glass on the front door and reached in the house.
Police say the young girl remained calm and pushed the panic button on the home alarm system panel. The alarm startled the burglar and frightened him off. Police later found the suspect making his getaway on a child’s pink bicycle. He was still wearing the latex glove that he used to protect his hands when he broke the glass on the front door.
It’s frightening for any parent to think of their child home alone when someone tries to break into the house. In this case, the alarm and panic button were there and the 12-year old knew what to do and how to operate the system.
It is a good reminder that everyone in your home should know how to use the security alarm system. It is there to protect and you never know when you will need it.
